Oktoberfest 2010

Frau Kemmling's (Erich's sister) restaurant opened up in August, and we headed down to Jacksonville for their annual Oktoberfest party. This is the 3rd annual event, and each year has gotten bigger and bigger. This year, there were over 3000 people in attendance! It was also the first time in 3 years that the whole family had been together. We had a great time! This picture is in restaurant's dining room, with the kitchen behind us.

Do the Puyallup!

It's Fair time again! Yesterday we loaded up the car with 4 adults, 2 kids and 1 stroller and headed to the Puyallup Fair to experience some novelty first hand. Sonia loved the rides and we adults loved eating fair food.  What a perfect way to spend a late summer day.

Labor Day & Mariner's Game

This past Labor Day, Aparna and Scott came to visit to meet Neal! We had so much fun - went to a Mariner's game, a Corn farm (which turned out to be quite interesting) and since Aparna stayed for an extra 3 days, we got some extra Dodamma time :) Aparna and Sonia were basically inseparable and were like 2 peas in a pod. I suspect that Aparna at age 2 was very similar to Sonia.

We went to Red Lobster to recreate our Mohan childhood. Sadly, as thirty-somethings, it was somewhat anti-climactic!! I think Erich and Scott thought Aparna and I were crazy, but those cheddar biscuits were as good as we remembered.

Erich is a big Mariner's fan and has seasons tickets, so it was especially exciting to take Neal to his first (of many) games. We took Sonia last year so it was fun to go again this year.  We went to the game with our extended family of Aunt Margaret and Uncle Dave.

Family time

We recently posted a picture of Sonia and Neal in their "Big Brother" and "Little Sister" shirts, but I thought this one was too priceless not to post. Sonia gives Neal about 100 kisses a day, which is so sweet! Sonia really likes being a big sister and likes to baby all her toys now, including giving Winnie the Pooh a diaper.

Having two kids is amazing, and so we are really taking advantage of our time together and recently had Movie Night. It was Sonia's first time watching a movie, so we hyped it up and made popcorn, got in our PJs and went all out. About 15 minutes into "Finding Nemo", she asked for an episode of Dora the Explorer, so I guess we'll have to try again soon!

I have loved every minute of my maternity leave especially because we get to spend more time with friends and do so much during the day. Here is a picture of Sonia and her super buddy Margaret. These two are buds - in fact, Margaret showed up at our house to hang out with Sonia at 5am on July 24th, when we left early in the morning to the hospital for Neal's arrival!
