Aloha!

When Sonia was a tiny 10 weeks old, we all ventured to Hawaii to celebrate my 30th birthday. Now that she is 1 1/2, we figured that if we went again, she'd probably enjoy it more. We went to Maui for a week then came home through Honolulu, and visited with our great friends John & Julianna and their adorable daughters. Nana and Papa joined us on the trip too which was terrific. They got some great Sonia time and we all enjoyed basking in the sunshine in our waterfront condo, which we later realized was owned by a Hollywood agent.
We'd like to think we've had good luck getting upgrades in Maui, however this time our trip started off on the wrong foot, literally. Hours after we checked in, Erich and Sonia tripped on a stairwell and took a pretty bad fall. We spent all of Monday in the ER and at doctors offices...and after 2 x-rays, we thankfully learned that nothing was broken. Unfortunately Sonia could not walk for 3 days and once she started crawling, was still in visible pain. She is walking now that we are home(of course) but this trip definitely taught us that you can never expect anything to go according to plan. We were so happy Nana and Papa were with us to help out with everything!

Up in the snow

A few weeks ago, we decided to venture east (that is, 45 minutes east of our house) to visit some snow. Obviously, we weren't quite ready to ski, but the play area and snow hill was just fine. Decked out in our warmest, we had a great time. And of course we caught the best part on video...
