Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving week was a big one in our house. I returned to work on Monday, after having almost 5 months of maternity leave. This meant that Sonia started attending daycare as well...but fortunately her new "school" is in my office building, right downstairs! So far she appears to have enjoyed her first 3 days of daycare, and I survived being apart from Sonia. And thanks to all the activity of her "curriculum", Sonia was exhausted in the evenings and slept through every night!
.

First day back at work for Mommy and first day of daycare for Sonia!

We stayed in Seattle for Thanksgiving t
his year and joined our friends Kelsey and Tony for dinner at their place. It was so much fun, the food was great, and Sonia and her buddy Reilly had a great time playing together.

Sonia and Daddy in her new Thanksgiving outfit - very fall festive!

Kelsey and Reilly, and Deepa and Sonia - all the girls had fun!!

Reilly and Sonia love to play!

Recently we discovered that Sonia knows her own name! Ok - she will look in your general direction if you say her name repeatedly, but we think that is a good start. Also, she'll giggle at you if you are smiling at her. And also exciting, she is into some new toys as you can see from the pictures below.

Sonia's friend Reilly let her borrow her Exersaucer on Thanksgiving - she loves it!

Bouncing around in her new jumper toy that we bought in a post-Thanksgiving spree. She loves spinning around in circles, but check out her expression in this photo...Olive kept sneaking up and trying to join in on the fun.

More November Pics

Sonia is getting so big! She had her 4 month appt today and took her shots like a champ (better than Mom). Check her out sitting in her "chair". Olive loves it since they're on the same level!

This week, Sonia got to meet her cousin Leela (and her parents, Deepa's cousin Ranjit and his wife Stacey) when they came to visit.

New Jersey!!

We headed to New Jersey for 12 days to visit Sonia's east coast family, and had a great time. Sonia showed off her newest skills which include: rolling over, babbling, reaching for toys and laughing. While we were there, we saw friends and family from all over. Sonia enjoyed time with her grandparents and her Dodamma (Mom's older sister - Aparna!!) while Mom and Dad went out on a few dates.

What is a trip to the east coast without a visit to dear old Penn?

Sonia reads the Wall Street Journal!

Aunt Hilary came all the way up from DC to visit for the weekend!

Sonia's Tita Boad (aka Janina) also got to meet her in infamous Sparta.

Check out this montage of some of our favorite pictures!

What a fun October!

Great Grandmothers
Sonia has been lucky to meet both of her paternal great grandmothers. A few weeks ago, her paternal Great-grandma Ruth visited us in Seattle.

Webcast!

And thank goodness for technology! While Deepa's maternal Great Aunt Sarala Kakki and her daughter Jayanthi Aunty (are you following this family tree??) were visiting her parents in NJ, in typical Mohan-style we had a webcam video conference so that they could "meet Sonia". We captured that moment on camera!

Happy Halloween!

We took Sonia to her first Pumpkin Patch a few weeks ago. In spite of the long lines, it was a beautiful day and we all had a great time. For Halloween, Sonia dressed up as a Pumpkin, and in our opinion, she was the cutest pumpkin ever! Believe it or not, she actually seemed to like being in the costume - including the hat - so we strapped up the Baby Bjorn and walked around our neighborhood to check out all the kids and their costumes. Even Olive dressed up for the occasion (as a pig)!
